Yaz/Yazmin, Beyaz and Ocella – Women’s Birth Control Blood Clot Litigation
Sugarman Law – Representing Women Injured by Yaz, Yazmin, Beyaz and Ocella
In April 2012, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that new warnings are required for the popular birth control drugs Yaz, Yasmin, Beyaz and Ocella. These government warnings were issued based on studies showing that these drugs carry a much higher risk of dangerous and life-threatening blood clots, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE) than other birth control pills.
Sugarman Law, partnered with additional Yaz/Yazmin attorneys, is actively representing women with Yaz/Yazmin, Beyaz and Ocella blood clot injuries including DVT, PE, stroke and death. Yasmin, Yaz, Beyaz and Ocella are birth control pills composed of the chemical drospirenone and are manufactured and/or marketed by Bayer Healthcare. Ocella is a generic form of Yasmin, marketed and distributed by Teva Pharmaceuticals. These drugs were widely prescribed beginning as early as 2001, and thousands of women have been hospitalized and treated for serious blood clot injuries from deep vein thrombosis in their legs and pulmonary embolism in their lungs.
For more than 10 years Mr. Sugarman has represented women injured by dangerous and defective drugs. He successfully obtained compensation for women injured by the Ortho Evra Birth control drug, fen-phen anti-obesity drugs, and the gastrointestinal drug Propulsid. Sugarman Law is currently representing women in New Jersey and throughout the country for injuries caused by Yaz, Yazmin, Beyaz, Ocella, and for serious injuries by defective transvaginal mesh products manufactured by Johnson & Johnson/Ethicon, C.R. Bard, and other companies. Sugarman Law is ready to help you, like we have helped previous women injured by the Yaz group of birth control drugs.
How Yaz, Yazmin, Beyaz, and Ocella Injure Women – Important FDA Findings
Sugarman Law and the attorneys representing women claiming Yaz, Yazmin, Beyaz, and Ocella related injuries believe that studies sponsored by Bayer Healthcare were purposely and wrongly designed to show no increased risk of blood clots for women using these drugs.
Other studies show that these birth control pills are much more likely to cause blood clots, pulmonary embolism, and strokes than other birth control drugs. The risk may be as high as 300%. In May 2011, the FDA announced that it was investigating new information about Yaz, Yazmin, Beyaz, and Ocella safety.
There are continuing concerns for Yaz, Yazmin, Beyaz, and Ocella users due to increasing reports of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and additional ailments, including:
- Heart attacks
- Cardiac Arrest
- Intracardiac Thrombus (blood clots in the heart)
